Plecoptera (Stoneflies) of Michigan

Key to the Plecoptera of Michigan

Introduction

This list provides a recent update to the Plecoptera of Michigan, and is based on a recent publication by Grubbs and Bright (2003). There are currently about 26 genera and about 59 species recorded for Michigan, with additional species occurring nearby (these are noted with state localities from which certified records have been published). Future sample processing and more thorough sampling across the state will undoubtedly increase the taxonomic representation of Plecoptera in Michigan. An species list dated October 12, 1998 for North America is maintained by Dr. Bill Stark at North American Plecoptera.
