Systematics of Diadasiopus

OConnor (1996) proposed the genus Diadasiopus for the new species D. eickworti, collected as deutonymphs from the bee, Diadasia opuntiae (Apidae: Emphorini) from California. OConnor & Daneshvar (in press) have described a second species from Diadasia chiliensis from Chile. We have recovered at least five additional undescribed species from other New World species of Diadasia as well as hosts in the genera Anthophora and Amegilla (Apidae: Anthophorini) from North America and Australia. In this project, we are describing the new species and conducting a phylogenetic analysis of relationships in the genus.
