Aquatic and Semi-aquatic Collembola (Springtails) of Michigan

The taxa listed are largely taken from Snider (1967), which remains the best survey work for the state. This work is over 30 years old, and thus one should not consider this an updated and definitive list. Interpretation of what is aquatic (a) and semiaquatic (sa) is based on my interpretation from Snider's species accounts, and is subject to revision (adding and deleting species both found in Michigan and associated with aquatic habitats). Species taken from sphagnum bogs are also noted (bog). Four families appear to have species that are associated per se with the aquatic (surface film) habitat.
